Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., EIPA, RID, or equivalent)
• Minimum of a high school diploma; relevant postsecondary training preferred
• Proven expertise in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience supporting students in a school setting is highly desirable
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and ASL for a high school student during classes, extracurricular activities, and school events
• Support student engagement and comprehension across various subjects, adapting interpretation as needed
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and educational teams to foster an inclusive learning environment
• Assist with note-taking or clarification when necessary to ensure complete access to instructional content
• Maintain accurate records of interpreting sessions and student progress
• Uphold ethical standards and best practices for educational interpreting at all times
