Qualifications & Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with a proven ability to interpret in educational environments
• Prior experience interpreting for children or young adults is highly desirable
• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as RID, EIPA, or equivalent) preferred
• Excellent listening and communication abilities
• Adaptability and professionalism when navigating diverse classroom and school situations
• Collaborative mindset with willingness to work alongside teachers, staff, and families

Responsibilities:

• Accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities using appropriate sign language methods
• Facilitate clear and effective communication between students, teachers, and peers
• Support student engagement by ensuring comprehensive access to educational material and social interactions
• Function as a resource for staff regarding best practices when communicating with students who use sign language
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all school policies regarding student privacy
• Occasionally participate in meetings, school events, or extracurricular activities as needed
