An Educational ASL Interpreter position is available to provide 1:1 support for an elementary student transitioning into a school district in Rock Hall, MD. This full-time role offers a 37.5-hour work week from August 24, 2026, through May 2027 (new school year). The position involves travel to the assigned school location.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and effective American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation tailored to an elementary student's educational needs
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers to promote an inclusive learning environment
- Collaborate closely with educators and support staff to support student learning and engagement
- Adhere to professional interpretation standards and ethical guidelines throughout educational activities
Qualifications:
- Certification of EIPA 4.0 or above or RID/NIC certification required. Candidates currently in the process of obtaining certification are encouraged to apply
- Experience working in educational settings as a sign language interpreter is preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work 1:1 with elementary-aged students
- Flexibility and willingness to travel to the school location in Rock Hall, MD
