Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpretive skills.
  • Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings, especially working 1:1 with young children.
  • Relevant interpreter certification or licensure according to state and national standards.
  • Ability to adapt communication styles to suit a Pre-K audience.
  • Collaborative attitude and willingness to work alongside teaching staff, therapists, and families.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to student confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time interpretation between staff, peer groups, and a Pre-K 4 student throughout daily routines and educational activities.
  • Support the student’s full participation and understanding during lessons, play, and classroom interactions.
  • Contribute to an inclusive and encouraging classroom environment.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the education team to support the student’s academic and social development.
  • Participate in meetings or parent conferences as needed.
