This full-time, contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 academic year offers you the chance to work one-on-one with a first-grade student, fostering both communication and confidence in a classroom setting.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Experience as a sign language interpreter in educational or similar settings.
- Ability to interpret for young children and adapt communication style to meet developmental needs.
- Current certification such as EIPA, RID, or state licensure (preferred or as required by local regulations).
- Strong collaboration skills for partnering with teachers, staff, and families.
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting student success.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one interpreting services for a first-grade student during school hours (8:30am-3:30pm).
- Accurately interpret spoken and signed communication in classroom and school settings.
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, peers, and educators, ensuring access to the full educational experience.
- Support the student’s social integration and participation in classroom activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and ethical standards.
- Work collaboratively with the educational team to adapt to evolving student needs and classroom activities.
