This full-time, contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 academic year offers you the chance to work one-on-one with a first-grade student, fostering both communication and confidence in a classroom setting.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Experience as a sign language interpreter in educational or similar settings.
  • Ability to interpret for young children and adapt communication style to meet developmental needs.
  • Current certification such as EIPA, RID, or state licensure (preferred or as required by local regulations).
  • Strong collaboration skills for partnering with teachers, staff, and families.
  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to supporting student success.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one interpreting services for a first-grade student during school hours (8:30am-3:30pm).
  • Accurately interpret spoken and signed communication in classroom and school settings.
  • Facilitate clear communication between the student, peers, and educators, ensuring access to the full educational experience.
  • Support the student’s social integration and participation in classroom activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and ethical standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the educational team to adapt to evolving student needs and classroom activities.
