Step into a dynamic educational environment supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing as a Sign Language Interpreter. This contract opportunity places you in a vibrant school setting, fostering student engagement not only in classrooms but also in enriching extracurricular activities such as choir, dance, and cheer. Two positions are available—one full-time at a junior high school (August 2026 – May 2027) and one part-time at a high school (August – October 2026), both based in the Rosenberg, TX area.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf or the Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Valid TX driver’s license
  • Fingerprinting clearance (district may accept existing fingerprints in the system)
  • Experience working with children, ideally in educational or structured environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate communication in a range of academic and extracurricular settings, interpreting for students during instruction, school events, meetings, and student activities
  • Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring for deaf or hard of hearing students under teacher direction
  • Support student safety and well-being by assisting with behavior management and crisis intervention as needed
  • Adapt interpreting modalities and strategies to match the communication needs of each student
  • Maintain administrative records, uphold confidentiality, and contribute to student progress reporting
  • Attend ARD meetings, faculty meetings, and required training or development sessions

The schedule offers consistency—position one is 35 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, with occasional extra-curricular support, while position two is a concentrated, short-term assignment.
