Step into a rewarding opportunity making a difference every day as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a 4th-grade student in a general education classroom. This contract position offers 30 hours per week with consistent hours from 7:50am to 2:15pm. You'll work 1:1, helping bridge communication and foster an inclusive, empowering learning environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL); fluent paraeducators with strong ASL skills are encouraged to apply.
  • EIPA score of 4.0 or higher highly desired.
  • Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings is a plus.
  • Collaborative approach to working with teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to adapt to students’ needs and classroom dynamics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one interpretation services to a 4th-grade student within a mainstream classroom, ensuring full access to instruction and participation.
  • Accurately translate spoken word to sign and vice versa, maintaining clarity and integrity of communication at all times.
  • Support instructional activities and facilitate communication between the student, educators, and peers throughout the school day.
  • Assist with pre-teaching or reinforcement of academic content, as guided by instructional staff.
  • Uphold student confidentiality and follow school policies and professional standards.
