Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students and faculty as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school-based environment near Round Lake, IL. Two openings are available, each offering the chance to make a meaningful difference while collaborating with dedicated educational teams.

Position 1:

  • Setting: John Powers Center in Vernon Hills
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–3pm
  • Duration: ASAP start through May 28, 2027

Position 2:

  • Setting: Grayslake North High School
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am–12pm
  • Duration: ASAP start through May 20, 2027

Desired Skills and Certifications:

  • Proven expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting within a school setting
  • Relevant credential required:
    • EIPA score of 3.5+ with ISBE approval, or EIPA 3.0–3.4 with interim ISBE approval
    • BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC credentials accepted with ISBE approval
  • Ability to foster clear communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their peers, and educational staff
  • Exceptional professionalism, flexibility, and collaborative skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or group interpretation for students throughout the school day
  • Support classroom learning and engagement by accurately conveying spoken and signed communication
  • Work alongside educators to address student needs and participate in IEP meetings as required
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all school district and state guidelines
  • Serve as a positive advocate for deaf and hard of hearing students
