Sign Language Interpreter in Round Lake, IL

Make a difference supporting students in an educational environment utilizing your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter. Two rewarding contract opportunities are currently open for skilled interpreters near Round Lake, IL, serving schools in the surrounding area. Both roles are full onsite positions, offering the chance to work directly with students and educational teams.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated proficiency in sign language interpreting within school settings
• Valid certifications required:
  • EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) approval
  • EIPA score of 3.0-3.4 may be accepted with ISBE Interim Approval
  • BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC credentials accepted if ISBE approved
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
• Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
• Experience collaborating with teachers and other school staff is preferred

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct sign language interpretation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in classroom and educational settings
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers
• Adapt interpreting methods to meet students’ individual educational plans (IEPs) and classroom needs
• Participate in meetings as required, collaborating with educational teams
• Maintain accurate records of services and student progress

1. John Powers Center, Vernon Hills
   Monday – Friday, 9am-3pm
   Contract through May 28, 2027

2. Grayslake North High School, Grayslake
   Monday – Friday, 8am-12:00pm
   Contract through May 20, 2027
