Educational Sign Language Interpreter - San Antonio, Texas

Step into an impactful role supporting students in Pre-K through 8th grade as an on-site Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time contract opportunity runs through the conclusion of the school year, offering you the chance to contribute your expertise in an educational setting dedicated to inclusive learning.

In this position, you’ll work closely with school staff and administrators to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and support personnel at a single school site. Your skills will be vital in promoting an accessible, engaging environment for young learners. The assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of May 2027, with a scheduled 37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications and Required Experience:

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (RID or BEI I/II under the previous certification system, or Basic under the current system via the Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing)
• Experience interpreting within educational settings, preferably with children from Pre-K through middle school
• Successful completion of district fingerprinting and background check processes
• Ability to provide clear, accurate interpretation for a range of classroom and school-based activities
• Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative spirit

Role Responsibilities:

• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and school staff through sign language interpretation
• Support deaf and hard-of-hearing students’ full participation in classroom experiences and school activities
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all district and legal guidelines
• Participate in pre-assignment interviews and credentialing as required
