Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school setting. Work closely with a high school student in an adaptive classroom, providing comprehensive communication assistance. This is a full-time contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year, with all services delivered onsite, reflecting parent preference for in-person support.
What we’re looking for:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter with a valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
- Experience supporting students with special needs, particularly in school or classroom environments
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset when working with educators and related service providers
- Comfort and sensitivity in working with students who utilize mobility aids, such as a wheelchair
- Ability to adapt communication techniques to meet individual student needs
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
Primary responsibilities:
- Deliver interpretive services to a high school student in an adaptive classroom setting
- Work one-on-one with students to facilitate full participation in classroom activities and lessons
- Support individualized communication needs, ensuring access to the curriculum and peer engagement
- Collaborate with special education teachers and other staff to provide a supportive educational environment
- Maintain accurate records relative to services provided and progress observations
This full-time contract role is scheduled for 37.5 hours per week, starting August 3, 2026 and continuing through May 21, 2027. Onsite attendance is required, with interviews beginning the week of July 6, 2026.
