Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong expressive and receptive skills.
- Experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably as an SLI.
- Ability to adapt communication style for a range of ages and classroom activities.
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and related documentation.
- Professionalism, reliability, and sensitivity to diverse educational needs.
- National certification or the equivalent is highly desirable.
Role Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken communication between staff or peers and students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Ensure accurate, confidential, and neutral relaying of conversations and instructions.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to facilitate effective communication.
- Participate in meetings and activities as requested, providing interpretation services as needed.
- Support equitable access to academic content and foster inclusion in all school activities.
