Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Schaumburg, Illinois

Make an impact in the lives of students as a Sign Language Interpreter with full-time contract opportunities in schools supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing programs or individual students. These roles offer the chance to collaborate closely with educators and help foster an inclusive academic environment.

Currently, there are three full-time positions available. Assignments include interpreting within a middle school Deaf and Hard of Hearing program, an elementary mainstream classroom, or supporting a self-contained elementary student. Each position runs 35 hours per week (7 hours per day) with assignments starting immediately and extending through late May 2027.

Qualifications:

• Proficiency and experience in sign language interpreting, especially within school settings
• Valid 3.5+ EIPA & ISBE certificate, or 3.0+ EIPA with IBSE approval
• Ability to facilitate clear communication between students and educational staff
• Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting students’ learning experiences
• Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct interpretation services for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Support teachers, staff, and students in classroom and school environments
• Assist in adapting instructional materials and communication as needed
• Foster an inclusive, supportive atmosphere that encourages student participation
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation when required
