Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Selma, California

Qualifications:

• NAD Certification or EIPA Certification with a score of 4.0 or above required
• Experience interpreting within K-12 educational settings preferred
• Skilled in providing clear, accurate interpretation between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
• Ability to adapt language style and register to suit different age groups, from kindergarteners to high school seniors
• Strong ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality and awareness of privacy protocols

Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, assemblies, and extracurricular activities for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
• Serve as a communication link between students, staff, and peers, ensuring information is accessible and inclusive
• Collaborate with teachers to understand lesson content and student needs
• Support student engagement and participation in various school functions
• Maintain professionalism and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences
