Qualifications:
- NAD Certification or EIPA Certification with a score of 4.0 or above required
- Experience interpreting within K-12 educational settings preferred
- Skilled in providing clear, accurate interpretation between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English
- Ability to adapt language style and register to suit different age groups, from kindergarteners to high school seniors
- Strong ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality and awareness of privacy protocols
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, assemblies, and extracurricular activities for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
- Serve as a communication link between students, staff, and peers, ensuring information is accessible and inclusive
- Collaborate with teachers to understand lesson content and student needs
- Support student engagement and participation in various school functions
- Maintain professionalism and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences
