Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational or school settings is strongly preferred
- Appropriate state credential or certification for educational interpreting (or the ability to obtain)
- Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation of classroom instruction, school events, and communications between students, staff, and peers
- Facilitate open and effective two-way communication to ensure students’ accessibility to educational content
- Support the educational and social development of deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Cooperate with classroom teachers, special educators, and other support staff
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards regarding student information
