What We’re Looking For:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpretation accuracy
  • Previous experience working in a school or educational environment
  • Ability to interpret in both classroom and one-on-one settings
  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state equivalent) preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professionalism
  • Flexibility to adapt interpreting style to various age groups and learning abilities
  • Collaborative attitude for working closely with teachers, support staff, and students

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation between spoken English and ASL for students, faculty, and parents
  • Support access to classroom instruction, assemblies, extracurricular activities, and meetings
  • Foster understanding and participation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in interpreting
  • Assist educators in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) as needed
  • Offer guidance on Deaf culture awareness to school staff when appropriate
