Position Overview
Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated onsite Travel American Sign Language (ASL) Educational Interpreter for a 1:1 assignment in Soldotna, Alaska for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a full-time opportunity within the education industry, offering consistent hours and the chance to support a student’s access to learning. The interpreter will work closely with school staff to ensure effective communication throughout the school day. Candidates should be comfortable adapting to a new environment while maintaining professionalism and reliability.
Job Details
This contract role offers 35+ hours per week in a structured school setting, providing direct support to a single student. The position is compensated on an hourly basis, with a pay range of $40–$50 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Eligible candidates may also receive tax-free travel stipends; details can be discussed during the pre-screening process with a recruiter. Weekly pay is included, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
Responsibilities
The interpreter will facilitate clear and accurate communication between the student and teachers, staff, and peers throughout the school day. This includes interpreting classroom instruction, discussions, and school-related activities using American Sign Language. The role also involves maintaining confidentiality, following educational guidelines, and supporting the student’s academic and social engagement. Consistent collaboration with educators and adherence to individualized education plans is expected.
Requirements
Applicants must hold current RID certification for interpreting or have an EIPA score of 4.0 or higher. Prior experience in a school-based or educational setting is strongly preferred, as it supports effective integration into the classroom environment. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain focused in dynamic settings. Flexibility and professionalism are essential for success in this travel-based role.
