Desired qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience as an educational interpreter or teacher of ASL
  • Hold a 4.0 EIPA or NIC certification (candidates willing to obtain a Kentucky license are encouraged to apply)
  • Familiarity with K-12 educational environments
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, collaborating effectively with students, staff, and families
  • Ability to adapt quickly and maintain confidentiality in all interactions

Primary responsibilities:

  • Deliver sign language interpretation services in classroom and school settings
  • Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and peers using ASL and voice interpretation
  • Support IEP meetings and various school functions as needed
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other support professionals to promote an inclusive, accessible learning environment
  • Employ cultural sensitivity and discretion while supporting students’ needs and fostering their independence
