This contract opportunity places you directly within a satellite program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students in grades 5-8. Your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter will empower students to fully engage in both their DHH-specific and mainstream general education classes, ensuring equitable and inclusive learning experiences.

Work hours align with the school day, from 8:15 am to 3:00 pm, allowing for a predictable and balanced weekly schedule. You’ll primarily interpret for students throughout their day, traveling with them to a variety of settings—including general classroom instruction and related service sessions such as occupational therapy and social work.

Ideal candidates will bring:

• Proven fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience with educational interpreting
• Ability to interpret in a diverse array of academic and therapeutic settings
• Credentialing as a Sign Language Interpreter; EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) preferred
• Sensitivity to the unique communication and educational needs of DHH students
• Adaptability and professionalism when supporting multiple students across different classrooms
• Commitment to supporting each student’s access to the full range of instruction and services

Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing interpreting services for DHH students across various classes throughout the day
• Facilitating clear and effective communication between students, staff, and peers
• Adjusting interpreting techniques as needed to suit individual student abilities
• Supporting student participation in both academic and related service sessions
• Collaborating with educators and support staff to optimize the learning environment
