This full-time, contract role, starting as soon as possible through the end of the school year, offers a schedule of 37.5 hours per week.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) or actively pursuing certification
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), including both interpreting and expressive skills
  • Prior experience facilitating communication for students in a school or educational setting preferred
  • Capable of collaborating with teachers, staff, and families to foster an inclusive learning space
  • Effective organizational and time-management abilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time ASL interpretation for students and staff in classrooms and during school activities
  • Collaborate with general and special education teachers to ensure students are fully engaged in academic and community events
  • Support students’ understanding of course material, classroom discussions, and peer interactions through clear and accurate interpreting
  • Adapt interpreting style to meet the varying needs of individual students
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with school policies regarding student privacy and professional ethics
