Make a significant impact in the lives of students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 10, 2026 through May 27, 2027, providing direct, in-person interpretation services in a dynamic and supportive educational setting. You will work onsite for 37.5 hours each week, contributing to accessible and inclusive communication for students within the classroom environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Current and active Sign Language Interpreter license in the State of North Carolina
- Previous experience in an educational setting preferred, with a strong understanding of the needs of D/deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to convey complex instructions and classroom content fluently
- Demonstrated professionalism, punctuality, and reliability in previous contract or educational roles
- Comfortable working exclusively onsite; remote work is not an option for this role
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct ASL interpretation for students, ensuring clear and effective communication between students, staff, and peers
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure student needs are met
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of assignments and student progress
- Adapt interpretation style to accommodate varying student needs and classroom activities
- Foster a positive, accessible, and inclusive learning environment for all students
