A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students in educational settings. This role involves providing clear and effective communication access for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, ensuring their full participation in classroom activities and school events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff using American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Interpret lectures, discussions, and educational materials in real time
  • Collaborate with educators to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Attend meetings and school functions as needed to support students
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language with formal interpreter training
  • Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in school or educational settings preferred
  • Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to travel to various school locations within Springfield, MA

Location & Travel: This position is based in Springfield, MA, with travel to different schools within the area to provide interpreting services where needed.
