Bring your expertise in American Sign Language to make a meaningful difference in students’ educational journeys. Two dedicated ASL Language Facilitators are needed for full-time contract positions, spanning August 27th, 2026, through June 11th, 2027. These roles offer the rewarding opportunity to work 1:1 with either a preschooler or a 5th grader, serving as a language bridge and academic support within a vibrant, diverse urban school environment.
You’ll be responsible for guiding comprehension of classroom material, tutoring, supporting the student in using ASL, and enhancing their ASL vocabulary. The school population is dynamic and culturally rich, providing an engaging and supportive space to make a real impact.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency and fluency in American Sign Language
- Skills in interpreting or language facilitation in educational settings
- Experience supporting students with diverse linguistic backgrounds
- Prior experience in schools highly preferred
- RID certification and/or EIPA score are assets but not required
- Ability to adapt techniques to individual learner needs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 academic and language support to assigned student
- Tutor and clarify classroom content for student comprehension
- Model and reinforce ASL, building vocabulary and confidence
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff in planning and implementation
- Foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment
