Key Qualifications:

  • Current National Sign Language Interpreter Certification (required)
  • Demonstrated experience working in educational settings preferred
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, staff, and students
  • Professional, adaptable, and committed to student success

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, teachers, and staff in classroom and school activities
  • Interpret instructional material, discussions, assemblies, and meetings as assigned
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professional ethics at all times
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to meet student and situation needs within the school environment
  • Serve as a valuable resource for staff regarding Deaf culture and communication access
  • Participate in team meetings, IEP planning, and ongoing professional development
