Support students in general education classrooms by providing expert sign language interpretation services during the 26/27 school year. This contract opportunity calls for interpreters eager to make an impact, working in a collaborative school environment near Stockton, CA. Five professionals are needed to work 30 hours per week, from 7:40 am to 2 pm daily, partnering directly as a 1:1 interpreter for students and offering support across the campus as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualification as a Sign Language Interpreter with a minimum of 4.0 EIPA.
- Experience supporting K-12 students in educational settings.
- Will consider ASL paraprofessionals currently working toward interpreter certification.
- Ability to clearly and accurately convey classroom instruction, discussions, and student communications.
- Strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- Flexibility to float as needed among general education classrooms.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct 1:1 sign language interpretation to assigned student(s) throughout the school day.
- Support communication between students, teachers, and peers in classroom and school activities.
- Float to assist additional students or classrooms, as directed.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Adapt interpreting methods and approaches to meet varying communication needs.
