Make a meaningful difference working as a Sign Language Interpreter with a young learner for the upcoming 26/27 school year. In this rewarding contract role, you’ll provide essential communication access for a 4-year-old PreK student, ensuring their inclusion and engagement throughout each school day. This position offers consistency and purpose, working with the same student in a supportive environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings
  • Understanding of the unique needs of medically fragile children, or willingness to learn
  • Compassionate and patient communication style
  • Ability to collaborate closely with teachers, aides, and healthcare professionals
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics

Role Highlights:

  • Support a PreK student who uses a vent and trach; training and guidance available from staff
  • Work schedule of 4 days per week, 4 hours each day—allowing for work-life balance
  • Ensure the student has equal access and can participate fully in classroom activities
  • Interpret classroom instruction, conversations, and activities
  • Adapt communication approaches to suit both the needs of the student and classroom flow
