Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings
- Understanding of the unique needs of medically fragile children, or willingness to learn
- Compassionate and patient communication style
- Ability to collaborate closely with teachers, aides, and healthcare professionals
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
Role Highlights:
- Support a PreK student who uses a vent and trach; training and guidance available from staff
- Work schedule of 4 days per week, 4 hours each day—allowing for work-life balance
- Ensure the student has equal access and can participate fully in classroom activities
- Interpret classroom instruction, conversations, and activities
- Adapt communication approaches to suit both the needs of the student and classroom flow
