Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting a dynamic 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom setting. This position calls for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter passionate about facilitating meaningful communication and contributing to student success. You'll collaborate closely with educators and a fellow language facilitator to ensure continuity and excellence in support.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter required
  • Experience working with high school students, ideally in behavioral or special education settings
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based, educational environment
  • Sensitivity to working with students using assistive listening devices (Cochlear implants, hearing aids, ALD)
  • Flexibility to cover other days if needed, in addition to regular scheduled Fridays

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide ASL interpretation for a 9th-grade student during instructional times only; no duties during lunch, arrival, or dismissal periods
  • Support the student’s integration and adjustment following a transition from a Residential Day School Program
  • Collaborate with another language facilitator to maintain consistent service throughout the school week
  • Adapt communication approaches in response to student’s needs, demonstrating understanding of assistive listening equipment
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality within the school environment
