Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting a dynamic 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom setting. This position calls for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter passionate about facilitating meaningful communication and contributing to student success. You'll collaborate closely with educators and a fellow language facilitator to ensure continuity and excellence in support.
Key Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter required
- Experience working with high school students, ideally in behavioral or special education settings
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based, educational environment
- Sensitivity to working with students using assistive listening devices (Cochlear implants, hearing aids, ALD)
- Flexibility to cover other days if needed, in addition to regular scheduled Fridays
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide ASL interpretation for a 9th-grade student during instructional times only; no duties during lunch, arrival, or dismissal periods
- Support the student’s integration and adjustment following a transition from a Residential Day School Program
- Collaborate with another language facilitator to maintain consistent service throughout the school week
- Adapt communication approaches in response to student’s needs, demonstrating understanding of assistive listening equipment
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality within the school environment
