Key Qualifications:

  • Active and current Sign Language Interpreter license
  • Proven experience working within a school or educational setting
  • Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation
  • Commitment to fostering academic achievement and social inclusion
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and hearing-impaired students
  • Reliable for contracted hours on site each Friday
  • Professional, positive, and student-focused approach

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Deliver real-time sign language interpretation for a 9th-grade student during classes and activities, empowering full engagement in academic and extracurricular experiences
  • Facilitate effective communication between the student, staff, and peers
  • Support individualized needs related to using assistive listening devices such as cochlear implants and audio amplification
  • Encourage the student’s participation in the school community, including academics and arts
  • Provide feedback and updates to the educational team to promote continued student growth
