Key Qualifications:

  • Valid SC SLI (Sign Language Interpreter) certification required
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience interpreting in school settings strongly preferred
  • Ability to adapt communication styles for various ages and subjects
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa for students, educators, and staff during classroom instruction and school activities
  • Support students’ access to curriculum content and social interactions
  • Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to tailor services to individual student needs
  • Assist in IEP meetings and parent conferences as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of interpreting assignments and student progress
  • Provide clear, timely communication to all members of the educational team

Role Details:

  • Contract position for the 2026-2027 school year (August 5th, 2026 – June 4th, 2027)
  • 37.5 hours per week, onsite assignment at school(s) within the district
  • Locations within the district will be determined
