Sign Language Interpreter

Soliant is seeking a qualified Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to join a supportive school district in Illinois for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide communication access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students throughout the school day.
• Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers.
• Interpret during classroom instruction, school meetings, assemblies, field trips, and extracurricular activities.
• Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to support student success.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards.
• Complete required documentation and participate in school meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• Active Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) approval/certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, or eligibility to obtain it.
• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required. Candidates with an EIPA score of 3.0 may be considered with ISBE approval.
• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Previous school-based interpreting experience preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Compensation for this position ranges from $28.39 to $48.39. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.
