This contract position offers the opportunity to support a Kindergarten student who communicates through sign language, working onsite for 35 hours each week. While the student does not have a hearing impairment, your fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) will be essential in fostering clear classroom communication and enhancing the student’s learning experience.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required.
  • Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and facilitate communication in various classroom activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting student development.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom instructions, conversations, and peer interactions for the student.
  • Bridge communication between the student, teachers, and classmates throughout the school day.
  • Support academic and extracurricular activities by providing real-time ASL interpretation.
  • Collaborate with educators and school staff to ensure the student’s full participation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Adjust interpreting methods to meet the evolving needs of the student.
