Educational Interpreter - Tacoma, WA

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available in a middle school setting located in Tacoma, WA. This contract role offers 6.5 hours per day, starting ASAP through June 16, 2026.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality sign language interpreting services to support effective communication for students with hearing impairments in a middle school environment. The role requires strong skills in sign language interpretation and a commitment to working closely with students and educational staff.

Key responsibilities include:

• Interpreting in classroom settings to facilitate student access to instruction and social interaction
• Collaborating with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure clear communication
• Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
• Participating in ongoing professional development and training

Qualifications:

• Proficient in sign language interpretation, with experience in educational settings preferred
• Must have a current EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score or be willing to take the EIPA written and performance exams during the school year
• Knowledge of middle school curriculum and environment is a plus
• The director on site is a certified state proctor and can administer the EIPA exam, providing convenient access for certification
