Educational Interpreter - Tacoma, WA

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available for a middle school setting in Tacoma, WA. This contract role spans the current school year, from ASAP through June 16, 2026, offering a consistent 6.5-hour workday. The role is ideal for candidates with a passion for facilitating communication and supporting students with hearing impairments in an educational environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience interpreting in school settings
• Ability to manage a caseload focused on middle school students
• Candidates must have a valid Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score or be willing to complete the EIPA exam within the school year
• Flexibility and commitment to a full-time schedule, 6.5 hours per day

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide effective and accurate sign language interpretation for middle school students
• Support students' communication access across academic and social contexts
• Collaborate closely with educators, staff, and other professionals to ensure an inclusive learning experience
• Prepare for and participate in the EIPA assessment, with access to a certified state proctor available onsite for both the written and performance exams
