Desired Qualifications:
- National Interpreter Certification (NIC), Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or equivalent certification
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings is highly valued
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic school environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing and educators, staff, or peers
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, school events, meetings, and other academic activities using ASL
- Adapt interpreting style to fit the individual needs of each student
- Support inclusion and full participation of students in academic and social components of school life
- Collaborate with educational teams to promote student success and independence
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all situations
