Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting in educational settings
• Hold a recognized certification such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent (or eligibility for certification)
• Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in K-12 school environments is highly valued
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in all interactions
• Excellent listening, communication, and time-management skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time sign language interpretation between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and teachers, staff, and classmates
• Translate classroom instructions, discussions, and school activities, ensuring full access to the curriculum and school events
• Collaborate with teachers, case managers, and educational teams to adapt materials as needed for student success
• Support students in both individual and group instructional settings
• Assist with extracurricular events or meetings when necessary, fostering inclusivity
