Highly valued skills and qualifications:
- Valid 4.0 EIPA or RID certification required
- Demonstrated experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting for children and adolescents
- Strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and reliability
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, working interactively with students and staff
Core responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 sign language interpreting services for a student throughout the school day
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, peers, teachers, and other school staff
- Support full participation in classroom activities, extracurricular events, and school functions
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of the interpreting profession
- Stay engaged with school teams to ensure students’ evolving needs are met
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field
