Highly valued skills and qualifications:

  • Valid 4.0 EIPA or RID certification required
  • Demonstrated experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting for children and adolescents
  • Strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and reliability
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, working interactively with students and staff

Core responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 sign language interpreting services for a student throughout the school day
  • Facilitate clear communication between the student, peers, teachers, and other school staff
  • Support full participation in classroom activities, extracurricular events, and school functions
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of the interpreting profession
  • Stay engaged with school teams to ensure students’ evolving needs are met
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field
