Make a meaningful difference as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a middle school student throughout their school day. This contract opportunity offers full-time hours in an engaging educational environment, beginning as soon as possible and extending through May 27th, 2027. The assignment will be either at Tanglewood Middle School or Beck International Academy, both located in Greenville, SC. Exact site placement will be confirmed prior to your start date.
You will work one-on-one with a transfer student from Colorado entering middle school, accompanying them in general education classes and providing essential communication access. A dedicated 70-minute period will be spent with the student’s DHH Teacher for IEP-related services. Your schedule will closely follow standard school hours, with slight variations depending on the assigned campus.
Qualifications:
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 required
- Must possess at least a high school diploma
- Successful completion of the written EIPA exam
- Ability to pass a background check
- Willingness to sign the SLI Code of Ethics during onboarding
- The latest South Carolina state requirements for interpreters (non-negotiable)
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities for a deaf or hard-of-hearing student
- Partner closely with educational staff, general education teachers, and the DHH Teacher
- Maintain professional standards outlined by the SLI Code of Ethics
- Provide consistent, student-centered support to promote learning and inclusion
This contract offers an opportunity to work regular full-time hours during the school year, with daily schedules of approximately 8:00 am to 3:45 pm or 8:15 am to 3:30 pm.
