Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Taylorsville, North Carolina

Step into a meaningful, contract-based role supporting students and fostering communication access in an elementary school environment. A dedicated Sign Language Interpreter is needed for the upcoming academic year, spanning August 3, 2026, to May 28, 2027. This position offers a steady Monday through Friday schedule, working 35 hours weekly from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Key Qualifications:

• Active licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required, or current RID certification
• Strong command of American Sign Language and interpreting best practices
• Experience within educational or school settings preferred
• Ability to work onsite each day (remote or virtual not permitted)
• Punctuality and preparation to greet and support students as they arrive

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, in-person interpreting services for a designated student at Troutman Elementary
• Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, faculty, and staff
• Ensure prompt daily arrival and readiness to begin supporting the student’s needs at the start of each day
• Collaborate with teachers and school support staff as needed to promote student inclusion and learning
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions
• Adapt communication styles and strategies as required to meet individual student needs
