A full-time virtual Sign Language Interpreter is urgently needed to support two 6th grade middle school students within a public school setting. This role involves providing live telehealth interpretation services Monday through Friday, from 8:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., ensuring effective communication and accessibility for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering accurate and clear American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation during virtual middle school classes
- Facilitating communication between students, teachers, and school staff via telehealth platforms
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional ethical standards
- Collaborating with educators to enhance instructional access for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students
- Managing a caseload focused on middle school students, specifically 6th graders
Qualifications and experience required:
- Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) certification for Sign Language Interpreters
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language and educational interpreting
- Experience working with middle school-aged students, preferably in a school or telehealth environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to virtual platforms
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
