Virtual Sign Language Interpreter | New York

A full-time or part-time Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) position is available at a high school located in Ballston Spa, NY. This onsite role supports students through 1:1 interpreting services and utilizes block scheduling for structured work periods. Experience with telehealth interpretation is highly valued, enhancing communication in both in-person and virtual environments.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing clear and accurate sign language interpretation for students, faculty, and staff
• Facilitating effective communication during classroom instruction and school activities
• Supporting students individually through 1:1 interpreting sessions
• Collaborating with educators to ensure accessible learning experiences
• Assisting during telehealth sessions as needed, utilizing remote interpretation skills

Desired qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting techniques
• Experience working in educational settings, preferably at the high school level
• Ability to adapt to block scheduling and flexible assignment times
• Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote interpretation practices is a plus
• Strong communication skills and professionalism
