Remote Educational Sign Language Interpreter - New York

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter is sought for an elementary school setting, providing telehealth and in-person interpretation services. This role operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, supporting an elementary caseload. The position is contract-based and located in the Bloomingburg, NY area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate accurate and effective communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and educators in an elementary school environment.
• Deliver telehealth sign language interpreting services in compliance with educational standards.
• Support classroom instruction and student interactions by ensuring accessibility in both virtual and face-to-face formats.
• Collaborate with school staff to accommodate student needs and adapt interpreting approaches accordingly.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all communication settings.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpretation skills in educational settings.
• Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within schools, preferably handling elementary-level caseloads.
• Familiarity with telehealth technology and remote interpreting protocols.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage diverse student needs.
