Virtual Sign Language Interpreter | New York

A role is available for an experienced Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within a high school environment located in Schenectady, NY. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities with a focus on block scheduling and 1:1 support for students requiring sign language interpretation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clear and effective sign language interpretation services in an onsite, high school setting
• Facilitate communication between hearing and deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals during classroom instruction and telehealth sessions
• Support 1:1 student interactions to ensure accessibility in educational and health-related activities
• Collaborate with educational and healthcare professionals to meet students’ communication needs
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with relevant regulations and guidelines

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with prior experience as a sign language interpreter
• Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote interpretation services
• Experience working in an educational setting, preferably within a high school environment
• Ability to manage block schedules and provide consistent, reliable support
• Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity towards the needs of students with hearing impairments
