Virtual Sign Language Interpreter – Idaho

A welcoming school district in Idaho is seeking a dedicated Virtual Sign Language Interpreter to support a 4th grade student for the remainder of the school year. This is a full-time virtual opportunity for an interpreter who is passionate about supporting students and ensuring effective communication and access to education.

Responsibilities

• Provide virtual sign language interpretation services for a 4th grade student.
• Facilitate clear and effective communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers.
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, activities, and school-related communications.
• Support the student's access to the general education curriculum.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other members of the student's educational team.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and accurate documentation as required.
• Help create an inclusive and accessible learning environment for the student.

Experience

• School-based interpreting experience preferred.
• Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively provide interpretation services in a virtual classroom environment.
• Reliable internet connection and appropriate technology for virtual services.

Education, Certification & Requirements

Candidates must meet applicable EIA requirements for educational interpreting.

Candidates must also meet one of the following qualification pathways:

• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, OR
• RID certification, OR
• NAD Level 3 or higher.

If the candidate meets the applicable EIA requirements, the Idaho licensure requirement is waived.
