A full-time Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) position is available to support a middle school student through telehealth and on-site services in West Columbia, SC. This contract opportunity requires an interpreter with expertise in educational settings and the ability to work effectively with youth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear and accurate sign language interpretation for a middle school student in both telehealth and in-person environments.
  • Facilitate communication between the student, educators, and other school personnel to ensure effective educational support.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards specific to interpreter roles in educational settings.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to accommodate the student’s individual needs and promote inclusion.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 preferred; candidates with lower scores but a willingness to retest will be considered.
  • Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within school settings.
  • Strong knowledge of sign language conventions and interpreting techniques relevant to middle school students.
  • Ability to work independently and manage scheduled telehealth appointments and onsite assignments.
  • Availability for immediate interview and prompt hiring.
