  • Current licensure or national certification (such as EIPA, RID, or NIC), as required by state and district guidelines.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa) to ensure full participation of deaf and hard-of-hearing students in classroom instruction and activities.
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers during lectures, group work, presentations, and extracurricular programs.
  • Adjust interpreting style and pace to match the individual needs of students and the educational setting.
  • Contribute insights to individualized education plan (IEP) meetings and ongoing progress discussions when requested.
  • Maintain transparent records and collaborate with other educational professionals for student success.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
