A full-time opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in American Sign Language (ASL) to provide dedicated support to a 5th-grade student with cochlear implants. This contract position involves working 40 hours per week in an elementary school setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 ASL interpretation for a 5th grader during classroom instruction and related activities
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, educators, and peers
- Ensure accuracy and clarity in interpreting educational content and social interactions
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois EIS license for interpreting or an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher
- Proven experience in ASL interpretation, especially within educational environments
- Strong understanding of communication strategies for students with cochlear implants
- Ability to work professionally and collaboratively within a school community
