A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide 1:1 support for a student in a vibrant school environment. You will play an essential role in fostering access, communication, and engagement for a student who relies on sign language, helping them thrive academically and socially.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings strongly preferred
- State or national interpreter certification (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent)
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, staff, and families
- Professionalism, discretion, and a strong commitment to student confidentiality and empowerment
Daily Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one interpreting services to a student during classroom instruction and throughout the school day
- Facilitate communication between student, teachers, staff, and peers
- Adapt interpreting style to fit classroom activities, discussions, and individual student needs
- Support the student in accessing all aspects of their curriculum and social interactions
- Maintain accurate records as needed and participate in team meetings
- Foster a supportive, inclusive environment for the student
