Step into a rewarding contract position as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in general education classrooms for the 2026/27 academic year. This role features a 32.5-hour workweek, with regular hours from 7:40 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., providing a structured daily schedule. As part of a dedicated interpreting team, you’ll focus primarily on 1:1 student support but may also assist throughout the school as needs arise. The student assignments are in general education classes, and students are not identified with additional disabilities.
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- Must possess a minimum EIPA score of 4.0.
- Comfortable working in K-12 educational settings.
- Demonstrated professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt when assisting different students and classrooms as a floating interpreter.
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language for students in general education environments.
- Ensure students have equal access to classroom instruction, activities, and interactions.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to support students' participation and success.
- Adapt interpretation style as needed to suit classroom activities and communication dynamics.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold school and professional standards.
