Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
  • Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings strongly preferred
  • VQAS Level III or an EIPA score of at least 3.5 is likely to be required (pending district decision)
  • Willingness to undergo a Virginia Department of Social Services background check and TB test immediately upon hire
  • Strong adaptability to changing schedules, locations, and caseloads
  • Commitment to professional standards of confidentiality and ethics

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate, clear sign language interpretation for students, staff, and parents in various school settings
  • Adjust to an evolving weekly schedule and varying assignments across multiple campuses based on district needs
  • Facilitate communication for students of different age groups (elementary, middle, and high school)
  • Collaborate with educators and educational teams to ensure students’ access to classroom instruction and activities
  • Maintain required documentation and adhere to district and state policies
