Step into a pivotal role supporting students as a sign language interpreter for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in an elementary school setting, serving as an essential communication bridge for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Work on-site, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 2:30 pm, providing one-on-one interpreting services throughout the school day.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • EIPA score of 3.5 or above, or possession of RID certification (either credential is acceptable)
  • Experience interpreting in educational settings, ideally within elementary schools
  • Familiarity with best practices for student prepping and daily readiness
  • Strong commitment to punctuality—arrive prior to student arrivals each morning
  • Professional communication skills and ability to collaborate with educators and staff

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, on-site sign language interpretation for a designated student at the elementary level
  • Facilitate clear, effective communication between student, teachers, staff, and peers
  • Prepare for each day by ensuring a supportive environment upon the student’s arrival
  • Adapt interpreting approach to meet the dynamic needs of the classroom and student
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ensure confidentiality at all times
  • Support student inclusion and participation in all aspects of the school day

This assignment runs from August 3, 2026, to May 28, 2027, offering 35 hours per week in a rewarding school-based environment.
