Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Troy, New York

This contract position offers 32 hours per week throughout the entire school year, concluding June 25, 2027. Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience interpreting for children in educational settings, preferably elementary level
• An Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher is strongly recommended
• Professionalism, adaptability, and a collaborative spirit in team environments
• Familiarity with IEPs or support plans a plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation for an elementary student during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
• Facilitate communication between the student, educators, and peers to promote integration and participation
• Adapt interpreting style to match the student’s communication needs
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and school policies
• Support the educational and developmental goals set by classroom teachers and support staff
